VIEW FULL SUB GROUP COMMITTEE POLICY
Formerly the White Ribbon committee, this group is the link between the general public and the CCDVC when it comes to raising awareness of DV in our community. This group is particularly busy during the 16 Days of Activism (end Nov / early Dec) with fundraisers, publicity events, and a Walk / Demonstration to bring in community and raise much-needed awareness.
This group focusses on the unique challenges experienced by victim-survivors from multicultural backgrounds. Such barriers include poor English language skills, lack of family or friends to call on for support, and limited understanding of community services or government role in addressing gender-based behaviours.
Members of this group take a bigger picture view of the sector, looking at systemic barriers and opportunities for services to work more collaboratively. The efforts of this group have previously enabled a region-wide symposium, which in turn resulted in the DV Pathways brochure
